Eager Inn

The Adventure…

The Eager Inn has a long and interesting history. It was built in 1797 along the Zane’s Trace Trail - the first road cut into the wilderness of the Northwest Territory – and served as a stagecoach stop and inn until 1870. The inn was also part of the Underground Railroad in the 19th century. It was one of two stone inns built at 20-mile intervals on the segment of the trail between Chillicothe, Ohio and Maysville, Kentucky. Although you cannot enter the structure (private property), it can be seen along the road to Pike Lake State Park in western Pike County.
